Contributing to our environment

We continue to pursue opportunities to measure and reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the operation of our assets.

Elanor supports a number of programs that are focused on species preservation, animal welfare and animal rescue.

Elanor’s environmental initiatives span the breadth of our investment portfolio.

Energy Efficiency

Strategic renewable energy initiative

Through our collaboration with Solar Bay and Momentum Energy we will deliver a combination of on-site and off-site renewables that will meet 100% of the energy needs at the Waverley Gardens Shopping Centre, making it one of Australia’s first totally renewable-powered shopping centres. This model will be implemented across a number of other assets in the Group’s retail portfolio including Tweed Mall, Neeta City, Riverside Plaza, Gladstone Square and Hunters Plaza.

Energy Ratings at our Assets

WorkZone West is WA’s only office building with a Base Building 6-star NABERS Energy Rating without green power. Garema Court in ACT has a 5.5 star NABERS energy rating. Nexus Centre and Corporate Drive properties in QLD both hold a 5-star NABERS energy rating.

Reducing our energy use and greenhouse gas emissions

Across the hotel portfolio we are upgrading to lighting, HVAC, and other equipment with more energy efficient technologies. Energy savers (which turn power off when guests leave their hotel rooms) are in place within the Eaglehawk Resort and Cradle Mountain lodge while the Building Management System in the Mayfair Hotel in Adelaide also contributes to efforts to improve energy efficiency.

Across our Retail portfolio we have improved energy efficiency by upgrading LED lighting, HVAC and BMS.

Renewable energy

Following the successful installation of solar panels and electric vehicle charging stations at the Clare Country Club, SA we are now exploring similar opportunities across other hotel assets.

Waste Management

Recycling

We are minimising waster through our on-site separation of recyclable waste and grey water recycling at Retail investments.

Reducing landfill

Our Office properties are involved in a number of initiatives including the recycling of vacated tenant furniture at our 200 Adelaide St, Brisbane property to ensure that items did not unnecessarily end up in landfill.

Minimising waste and pollution

Our hotel portfolio are reducing the use of single use plastics in straws and food packaging, installing water stations in lobbies to reduce use of bottled water and increasing the use of refillable pump amenities (shampoo, soap etc).

Aiding survival of our native animals

In partnership with the Australian Museum, Elanor supported it’s work to map the full genome sequence of the koala. This work is crucial for the long term survival of the species.

Promoting the conservation of native species

Elanor’s Wildlife Parks provide active breeding programs for over 50 rare and endangered species.

Sustainable food supplies

Tree planting at Mogo Wildlife Park to provide a sustainable food base for its animals and enabling the habitat for wild birds.

Protecting biodiversity

Through the introduction of beehives at Cradle Mountain Lodge and Mayfair Hotel we are protecting biodiversity in the environment.
